My niece just got an iPad for her birthday. She’s absolutely over the moon with her new toy, and is reveling in the near-celebrity status that comes with being an iPad owner on the weekend of its Canadian release.
But what does her freedom-loving uncle make of it?
The release of yet another crippled Internet appliance by Apple, Inc. wouldn’t ordinarily be worthy of mention on these hallowed pages — but there’s been such a deluge of hipsteria about it over the weekend that I wanted to make sure that you caught the important stuff.
So let’s get to it!

Why isn’t this on my handset already?
