A quick visual tour of Jolicloud 1.0

Today’s post comes hot on the heels of the announcement made yesterday by liliputing.com’s Brad Linder — that Jolicloud v1.0 is now officially available for your downloading pleasure.

I actually did the upgrade path through the pre-release version a few days ago, but since either will get you to the same destination, let’s have a look…

Netbooks are doing just fine, thanks…

Brad Linder’s liliputing reported last week that netbook sales were slowing, partly due to the rising tide of tablets and also because the lines are blurring between netbooks and more powerful but equally small thin and light laptops.

All of this may be true but I’ve evidence of my own that netbooks are still wildly popular…

Today I’m going to clear up some misconceptions about Jolicloud, the current netbook distro of choice on my Eee PC.

Nokia’s Booklet 3G hates Linux.

There will be no more testing of Linux distributions on Nokia’s new netbook. There’s no point, really, as the Booklet 3G has a fatal flaw that prevents it from running the best desktop and netbook operating systems out there.

That flaw is the Intel GMA 500 graphics chip.
