Don’t get me wrong here — Canadian mobile users haven’t had it this good in ten years. Seriously.
Ten years ago when I moved into my condo I switched my mobile service from my then mobile provider to Fido in order to get better reception. And now I’m seriously contemplating switching to another carrier for a much poorer signal — virtually none, in fact, within the walls of my own home.
If it sounds like a stupid idea hear me out; once I’ve told you the whole story I definitely want your opinion. But first, a little history…
I’ve given Google — and particularly Android, their mobile OS — a bit of a hard time on these pages. I think it’s justified; Google is doing some fantastic things for free software but is also guilty of its fair share of gaffes. But today an opportunity has presented itself for yours truly to trial Google’s Nexus One and one of Canada’s new mobile operators. How can I say no?

How exactly are packets of data from Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Bebo, Flickr, Photobucket or LinkedIn different from packets from any other site or service?
