Over the weekend Pebble was teasing a big announcement for this morning, and now that 10AM Eastern has come and gone we know what that announcement is.
That is, a Kickstarter campaign for four new products—the Pebble 2 and Pebble Time 2 (both with heart rate sensors) plus two versions of an entirely new product called Pebble Core.
I think I see what Pebble is trying to do here: give Fitbit users more features for less cash with the Pebble 2, and give everyone else a better (and cheaper) Pebble Time Steel.
According to Pebble, its new Core is basically a tiny, connected Android computer. The fitness version is for runners who want to leave their phone at home—and have an extra SIM card with a 3G data plan lying around. The “hacker” version has two programmable buttons limited only by your imagination.
Here’s the video pitch for the new gear:
Are you interested in any of Pebble’s new products? I’m pretty sure that I’ll be down for a Pebble Time 2—just not the Kickstarter version. I’ll wait until it comes to my local Best Buy, thanks…
