This one’s for the benchmarking geeks.
AnTuTu has released a new report ranking the top 10 mobile processors currently on the market. Coming in at first place is Qualcomm’s new-for-2016 Snapdragon 820, benchmarking 60% higher than the Snapdragon 810 found on many 2015 flagships. The 820 currently powers the LG G5, Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge (in North American markets), plus others.
Oh, I’m sorry, did you want GPU stats as well? Of course you did… Nerd! 😛
GPU performance for the 820 is even more impressive, with Snapdragon’s latest pulling well away from Apple’s A9 and the latest Samsung Exynos chipset (which, by the way, will power the Asian, European and UK versions of the GS7 and GS7 edge).
Do these results render your non-Snapdragon-820-powered phone suddenly worthless? If you’re a hardcore benchmarking geek who lives or dies by numbers, then maybe. Also, what this report doesn’t tell us is whether or not the 820 will suffer from the same overheating issues as the first iterations of last year’s 810 chip.
Stay tuned for that…
