We’re not here to make friends…

Wait, don’t click ‘play’ just yet — I need to explain what’s going on here…

The fiendishly clever folks at WOM World Nokia have invited me and a friend to participate in their latest campaign for the N97 mini. They’re giving it the Twitter-friendly moniker #N97minitrunk — probably because of the enormous trunk they’ve shipped to nine destinations around the world.

The teams (or at least team leaders) seem to be as follows:

Team 1: Vaibhav – The Symbian Blog;
Team 2: Siraj – LoveMyNokia;
Team 3: Lee – Random Thoughts of a Techie;
Team 4: bongkersz – The Flaccid Mind;
Team 5: Devin – The Nokia Guide;
Team 6: Aditya – Aditya Singhvi’s Phones;
Team 7: Rita – The Symbian Guru;
Team 8: CJ – Gadgetized;
Team 9: Sandy Chen and yours truly.

The videos I’ve seen so far have been outstanding — particularly Rita’s stop-motion trunk charmers. And while this film school graduate isn’t making excuses keep in mind that I did just switch to a desktop Linux OS a few weeks ago and I can still barely print, let alone edit videos.

So what to do? Sandy and I figure that every competition needs some drama, a rogue element the plays the teams as much as the game itself. And so we present our video proposal for (insert dramatic music here) an alliance!

Okay, you can watch the video now.

    So as I understand it, you and Sandy are opting for what could only be described as an open-source version of competition, where collaboration is the key to success?

    I’d expect nothing less from this blog…

  3. Love the video! Love that you did not unbox it. Good on ya.

    I will join you and Sandy in an Alliance, except that I am not on any team or even in the game, but I will be in your Alliance.

  5. She was actually born in Taiwan — but we’re both part of a comedy troupe called Asiansploitation, where the Philippines are well-represented.

    And I’m only the director, so I don’t count. πŸ˜‰
